Laffta Fest: Globacom’s entertainment delight for subscribers
Launched in March, 2009, Glo Laffta Fest was a unique entertainment package for our cherished subscribers.
The programme, a blend of comedy, music and drama, was introduced as an entertainment and relaxation platform to reward subscribers for their loyalty to the network.
Generally regarded as the best entertainment show in the country, Laffta Fest featured the best acts in the entertainment industry in Nigeria. Renowned comedian Basketmouth was anchor of the show which also had other leading comedians such as Okey Bakassi, Gbenga Adeyinka, I Go Dye, I Go Save, Gordons, Gandoki, Buchi, Klint Da Drunk, Elenu, Malaeke, and Seyi Law.
Hot music acts such as D’banj, P-Square, 9ice, Faze, Durella, MI, Kelly Handsome, Duncan Mighty, Nigga Raw, Brackets, Wande Coal, J Martins, DJ Jeez, Sound Sultan and Stereoman also featured in the show. For the Lagos show, subscribers who used up to N2,500 in the last 30 days automatically qualified for the draws to pick 2,000 lucky ones to attend the show.
The programme kicked off in Lagos on Friday, March 6, at The Event Place, Planet One, Ikeja. After six highly successful shows in Lagos, the Laffta Fest train moved to other cities to avail subscribers outside Lagos the opportunity to share the fun.
The lucky subscribers who had won daily and weekly prizes of N1m and the monthly prizes of N10m received their cheques amid comedy and music. There is also the grand prize of N30m
From Enugu, the show moved to Port Harcourt, Jos, Ibadan, Owerri, Abuja, Calabar and Benin. Enugu is to experience the show the second time before it moves to Kaduna and then back to Lagos. For these cities, the air time usage band to qualify for a draw to attend the show was reduced to N1,500. Each edition turned out as highly entertaining as the last, with many of the subscribers describing it as the best show they had ever attended.
Joy Ahanna, a subscriber who lives in Gbagada area of Lagos observed, “It is the best show I have attended in recent time. The comedians were very entertaining and I enjoyed the musicians as well. I am very proud to be a Glo subscriber and I am happy I was invited for this great show.”
For Chidinma Okafor who attended the Enugu show, it was “a fun-filled package and a night to remember for a long time to come.”
Special Guest at one of the Lagos shows and publisher of Ovation International magazine, Dele Momodu, commended Globacom for what he said was a wonderful and unique dimension to entertainment in the country. “It was a great show, I enjoyed myself and I give kudos to Glo for putting together such a wonderful package for its customers,” he noted.
Since July, Laffta Fest shows has also become a good avenue for presentation of prizes to winners in the Glo text 4 millions promo.
Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services said the programme has been a huge success.
