Glo Direct
Glo Direct is an advanced wireless internet access service that allows you to stay connected to the World Wide Web anywhere and anytime within Glo Mobile's GPRS coverage area.
You can send and receive email and surf the Internet, wherever you are without any trouble.
You can connect your device to the internet in the following ways:
- Laptop: Connect your laptop to a GPRS enabled mobile phone that uses a Glo Mobile Glo Business SIM card.
- PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) or Smart Phone.
PDA and Smart phones these days come with a HTML browser. You need to insert a Glo Mobile Glo Business SIM card. In both cases, you will have to get the Glo Direct service activated. *Smart phones provide the convenience of a mobile phone in addition to accessing Internet directly on the handset.

How do I activate this service?
Glo Direct is currently available to Glo Business customers only. In order to subscribe to the service, simply visit your nearest Glo World outlet. You will be required to sign a GPRS enrolment form which is readily available in all Glo World for your laptop and instructions on how to use Glo Direct. Your Glo Direct service will then be activated.
What do I need to get connected to Glo Direct?
In order to connect to Glo Direct on your laptop you will need the following:- Glo mobile Glo Business SIM card
- Subscription to the Glo Direct service
- GPRS enabled handset
- Glo Direct CD-ROM (available when you subscribe)
- Laptop (with Windows OS) or PDA/smart phone.
How do I set up the Glo Direct service?
Glo Direct is currently available to all Glo Business customers. In order to subscribe to the service, simply send a text message with the word ‘Activate’ to 4777 or visit your nearest Glo World outlet.
Once the modem driver is downloaded, then insert the Glo Direct CD-ROM (you get this when you subscribe to the service) and connect your laptop to your GPRS handset. The phone acts as a modem that will connect your laptop to the internet. Now open the 'Glo Direct' icon on your computer and connect using Glo mobile's high speed GPRS network. You can also connect to the internet directly through your PDA or smart phone if you have configured the device to the Glo Direct settings.
How much does it cost?
You are only charged for the amount of information (data, content & web pages) downloaded and not on the basis of time spent online. The amount of data downloaded is measured in Kilobytes. A Kilobyte (Kb) is 1024 computer characters such as letters, numbers and symbols. Service is charged at N0.15k per kilobyte of data.
What can I do with Glo Direct?
You can connect to the Internet using your laptop/PDA with Glo Direct anytime, anywhere within the Glo Mobile GPRS coverage area. Check your personal e-mail (Yahoo!, MSN etc) and chat with your online friends using messenger. What is the speed of the connection?
Glo Direct provides the best connection to the Internet either via Glo Mobile’s extensive GPRS network, or via 3G in the 3G enabled areas. The service is offered on an “always on” connectivity eliminating repetitive and time-consuming dial-up connections. It can also provide browsing speeds up to 500 kbps.

Availability of Service
Glo Direct is available all over the Glo Mobile Network coverage area. The service can work either using the GPRS network or within 3G enabled areas.
