Short Message Service (SMS)

Text messaging is also known as SMS (Short Message Service). This feature allows you to send and receive short messages (up to 160 characters including space and punctuation marks) from your device to another mobile in the world in seconds. With Long SMS, more than 160 characters can be sent but the charge is always per 160 characters. With SMS you can keep in touch with a number when it is not easy to get through to, or if you are in a meeting, in a crowded bus or a restaurant you can communicate via SMS.

How to start using SMS

To use SMS, you must configure your message center. Your SIM card has already been preconfigured with the message center number which is +2348050001501. Please do not try to change this.

How to Send an SMS

On your mobile phone select “MENU” and scroll to “Messages”.
Select the “Write message” Or “New Message”
Type your message using the keypad and press OK/ YES/ SEND
Enter the phone number of person to whom you want to send the message
To send an international SMS, Type the “+” sign and country code followed by the phone number of the person to whom you want send the message to and press OK/YES/SEND button on your phone. Message will be sent immediately.
You receive a notification message sent, if you chose the option of the acknowledgment in your device.

How to Read an SMS

You will receive an alert and you will see an envelop icon on your phone screen
Go to the menu “Message”
Scroll to the “Inbox / read/ message”
Press “enter” and read your message
